Performance Experience

My performance experience is extensive and covers a wide range of styles from opera to musical theater and rock to pop. I have performed at a variety of venues over the past 20 years including wedding receptions, wedding ceremonies, Orchestra Hall, The Kennedy Center, The Chicago House of Blues, opera stages, musical theater stages, ballrooms, bars, banquet halls, churches, and more. I was in a 50's and 60's girl group band for many years, but also have done many opera and musical theater roles as well. Below is my performance and music lesson experience:

I have studied voice and vocal pedagogy intensively for 15 years.

I have played piano for 15 years, with serious lessons for four of those years.

I have played guitar for 10 years.

I played violin for 13 years as a child and teenager.

I have a vast deal of knowledge in the areas of English, French, German, Latin, and Italian diction and literature.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching private voice lessons for six years. I have experience teaching opera style, classical style, music theater style, pop, and country. I have worked with students as young as 10 to adults in their 60s. I have also worked with boys, girls, men, and women. I am happy to work with beginners, as well as trained singers.

I have been teaching piano for five years and have students from young children to older adults, beginners to intermediate players.

Want to learn to read music? Want to understand all of the symbols on that sheet of music? I can teach you the music theory behind it all. I have studied music theory for over ten years. Music theory was my concentration in my undergraduate degree and I have tutored children and adults in music theory for many years. Learning music theory will help you to read music, understand music, play music, and compose beautiful music.

I have a masters degree in music education and have experience teaching music to children from the preschool age all the way to seniors in high school and also students at the community college level. I have a great deal of knowledge in the area of the male changing voice and love to work with kids of any age. Music can be incorporated into life at any age and stage.
